🧠 If Hamas Was Hiding in Hospitals, Why Isn’t Hamas Defeated?
For months, Israeli officials—and much of the Western media—repeated the claim that “Hamas operates from underneath hospitals.” According to this narrative, Gaza’s major hospitals weren’t only humanitarian centers—they were command hubs, tunnels, and shields for militants.
But as of mid-2025, with almost every major hospital in Gaza bombed or destroyed, a troubling question arises:
If Hamas was hiding under hospitals, and those hospitals are gone, why is Hamas still operating at full strength?
📊 The Cost: 62,000 Dead, 100,000+ Injured
The Gaza Health Ministry reports:
- Over 62,000 Palestinians killed, including more than 25,000 children.
- 100,000+ wounded, many with amputations or severe trauma.
- As per the UN and WHO, over 95% of Gaza’s hospitals are now non-functional.
Entire facilities—Al-Shifa, Al-Quds, Nasser, Kamal Adwan, Indonesian—have been bombed or occupied under claims they were “Hamas strongholds.” Yet, no internationally verified evidence has shown they were legitimate military targets.
🪖 Hamas Fighter Strength: Then vs. Now
- Before October 7, 2023: Hamas had an estimated 20,000–30,000 fighters, with some Israeli estimates placing the number at up to 40,000.
- After eight months of war: According to senior Israeli and U.S. officials, Hamas still retains around 40,000 active fighters.
Despite Israel’s bombardment and ground operations, Hamas has not been dismantled. In fact, new fighters are reportedly being recruited.
💣 The Narrative Collapse
If hospitals were the core of Hamas’s command structure:
- Their destruction should have weakened or collapsed Hamas.
- Instead, Hamas remains militarily viable and still influences ceasefire negotiations.
So, either:
- The hospital narrative was exaggerated, or
- The Israeli military strategy failed completely—targeting the wrong places while inflicting enormous civilian suffering.
📺 Media Complicity
Major Western media platforms echoed Israel’s claims without verifying them:
- CNN, BBC, and NYT amplified the “hospital as bunker” rhetoric.
- Only after months of destruction and public outrage did they begin questioning the strategy.
Meanwhile, independent journalists and humanitarian workers repeatedly stated:
- No evidence of active Hamas operations in most hospital grounds.
- Staff and patients were trapped, killed, or displaced without notice or humanitarian corridors.
❗ Final Thought:
If Hamas was hiding in hospitals, and hospitals were destroyed, then why does Hamas still operate freely?
This contradiction exposes a dangerous reality: military justifications based on false or flimsy intelligence, repeated without accountability, have enabled one of the most horrific assaults on civilians in modern memory.
The world must now confront not just the consequences—but the narrative lies that made them possible.
