Hell Is Breaking Loose in Lebanon”: Israel Rejects Ceasefire Proposal as U.N. Chief Calls for Peace

 Key Points from the Interview:

1. Ongoing Conflict and Casualties: Israel's bombardment of Lebanon has displaced about 500,000 people. On Wednesday alone, 72 people were killed, bringing the death toll in recent days to over 620. Israel has rejected an international call for a 21-day ceasefire.

Mahdi Amelwho was a Marxist intellectual. And he wrote this a few months after the 1982 invasion of Beirut. And he writes:
"They said that the war in Lebanon would be swift and that in a few days those who have not knelt and who understand only the language of force would kneel. They declared that there would be no salaam, but shalom, and that Israel is the Rome of our modern times. To the kings of Israel, to the scum of our nation and our foul Arab regimes, to the petty fascists and to their imperialist masters, we say: It pleases us to spit in your faces. We will fight you even with our nails. Our fists are the compass of history. And the bullet of our freedom will pierce your hearts. To them, we say, brick by brick, we build a world on your graves. You are the dustbin of history, and Beirut is the city of the free. We have vowed that we will resist you.

2. Possible Ground Invasion:
Israel is preparing for a potential ground invasion of Lebanon, having deployed two brigades to the Lebanese border.

3. Widespread Suffering:
Journalist Lara Bitar, based in Beirut, reports on the extreme hardships faced by displaced people, especially the elderly, who have endured previous invasions. Despite the suffering, there is a strong attachment to the land.

4. Historical Context:
Bitar highlights Israel’s repeated invasions and occupations of Lebanon, referencing invasions in 1978, 1982, and 2006. She emphasizes that the current violence is part of a long history of Israeli aggression in the region.

5. Ceasefire Skepticism:
Bitar expresses deep skepticism about the potential for a ceasefire, citing past broken promises and the failure of the Biden administration to follow through on red lines in Gaza.

6. Hezbollah's Response:
Hezbollah, so far, has tried to de-escalate the situation, targeting military infrastructure rather than civilians. Bitar suggests that an Israeli ground invasion would be deeply traumatizing for Israeli soldiers.

7. UN Resolutions:
U.N. Resolutions 1701 and 1559, meant to address peace and security in Lebanon, are regularly violated by Israel. The Lebanese population does not place much faith in international resolutions or the U.N. Security Council.

8. Global Responsibility:
Bitar argues that global citizens should act by boycotting and divesting from Israel. She believes international pressure is necessary to make Israel's actions too costly to continue.

9. International Manipulation:
Bitar is critical of the U.S. and other Western nations, accusing them of manipulating public opinion and failing to take serious steps toward achieving a ceasefire. She questions the sincerity of U.S. diplomatic efforts.

10. Call for Global Action:
In her closing remarks, Bitar calls for grassroots action, urging people worldwidesà to pressure their governments and institutions to isolate Israel economically and diplomatically to end the violence.

Return to the Killing Fields: When Arab Silence Becomes Complicity

In March 2025 , a flicker of hope broke through Gaza’s smoke-choked skies . Seventeen Palestinian children— each a living testimony to horror —were evacuated from the rubble of their homes and transported to Jordan for medical care. Some arrived with legs blown off at the thigh , tiny bodies bandaged like mummies. One boy, no older than ten , had both arms amputated and his face marked by deep burns —his eyes wide with trauma , silently screaming for comfort . A girl, barely breathing , had shrapnel embedded near her spine and could only speak in whispers —if at all. They came on stretchers , barely conscious , wrapped not in blankets but in sorrow . Their mothers were left behind, many buried under collapsed buildings or lost in the chaos of airstrikes. These children were not just patients— they were war’s rawest wounds, symbols of a people being systematically erased. And then, the unthinkable happened. These same children —these shattered, fragile souls—have now be...

She Stitched Wounds With Empty Hands—And Lost All Nine of Her Children

In Gaza, where the sun rises over ash and broken concrete, where lullabies are drowned by the sound of drones, lived a woman whose hands brought healing to children even as the world around her collapsed. Her name was Dr. Alaa — a pediatrician , a mother , a lifeline in the middle of hell. And she has become a symbol of both the highest form of love and the deepest human suffering. Nine children. All hers. All dead. Killed in a single Israeli airstrike. Not soldiers . Not fighters . Just children — tucked beneath blankets, seeking safety that never came. She was saving children in the hospital when her entire world was bombed out of existence. “ Mama, when will this end?” Her youngest had asked her this just days before the strike . He was five . He used to draw little suns on the wall with crayons , yellow and smiling — a child who believed light could still live here. One of the child of Dr. Alaa. Dr. Alaa hadn’t answered. Because she didn’t know. She hadn’t...

Trump’s Gaza Plan and the Arab Autocrats: Displacement, Deals, and Betrayal

The Trump administration’s reported plan to forcibly relocate up to 1 million Palestinians from Gaza to Libya or Syria is more than a policy proposal—it is a geopolitical earthquake. It signals a dangerous shift toward normalizing permanent ethnic displacement under the guise of reconstruction. 1. What Is Trump’s Gaza “Solution”? Mass Deportation : Trump argues that Gaza is no longer livable and suggests relocating its population permanently—starting with Libya and possibly post-Assad Syria. Bribing the Host : Libya would receive access to billions in frozen funds in exchange for hosting Palestinians. Buying Consent : Trump suggests offering Palestinians housing and stipends to “incentivize” their exile. Fantasy Development : He wants to rebuild Gaza as the “Riviera of the Middle East”—without its native population. This plan, if implemented, would be a modern-day Nakba , violating international law and the principle of the right to return. 2. Why Are Arab Autocracies Qu...

When Two Lives Matter More Than Seventy – A Night of Massacres in Gaza

When Two Lives Matter More Than Seventy On the same night that the world’s media was awash with breaking news about the tragic killing of two foreign diplomats in Washington D.C. by an American citizen—a horrific incident that drew immediate outrage, blanket media coverage, and solemn condemnations from every major capital— something else happened . In Gaza, 70 Palestinians were killed . Seventy human beings. Mothers, fathers, babies in their mother’s arms, and children huddled in fear inside a school they believed would protect them. The Fahmi al-Jarjawi School in Gaza’s Al-Daraj neighborhood was struck by Israeli warplanes. At least 36 displaced people were massacred , their bodies pulled from under the rubble, their lives extinguished without a moment’s pause. And yet, as the world grieves two diplomats, it forgets seventy Palestinians in a single night. Mainstream outlets offered wall-to-wall coverage of the Washington incident: live updates, expert panels, somber editorials....

The Body Is Failing, and So Is Humanity: Gaza’s Final Cry.

When Food Is No Longer Enough: Gaza’s Descent Into Clinical Starvation “We are reaching a point where children and adults won’t be saved with pallets of food dropped from planes.” — Jake Wood , humanitarian leader and former head of the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation 🔥 Gaza Is Starving — And We’ve Let It Happen Gaza is not just facing hunger. It is collapsing into famine —and the world is watching in silence. According to the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) , 100% of Gaza’s population is now at risk of famine . Every single man, woman, and child. This is not a statistic. It’s a death sentence delivered in slow motion. 🩸 Ketones in the Urine. Organs Shutting Down. Hope Evaporating. Children in Gaza are now excreting ketones —a biochemical scream from a starving body. It means they’ve burned through fat reserves. Their bodies are consuming themselves. You can’t fix that with a bag of flour. What they need now is clinica...
